Or are they playing games with our money with little regard to community needs. It’s crystal clear, though they deny it, that our current council follows political aims and biases and wields a hell of a lot of power. Remember their ill conceived politically motivated pop up bike lane disaster that residents didn't ask for, that cost $5m. Currently we employ over 850 council employees, many on wages that I believe overstate their abilities. Council's aim seems to be focused toward growing their numbers and they keep concocting projects that the community hasn’t asked for, to bolster their employment power base and justify their existence. How many times has the St Kilda Triangle for example or ’Bermuda Triangle money pit’ come back on the agenda to squander even more rate payer funds. ($500,000 - so far). I believe this project has been another “phoenix" re-birthed strategy (Like the Sea to Shrine and bin tax) to take the focus away from all those expensive stuff ups that our council is constantly making and their failures to deal with providing simple core services. How’s everyone's rubbish collection going? I'm still getting my neighbour's bins from the other side of the street.Acland Street being a prime example of historical council ineptitude with its zombie drugged out street sleepers and crims taking over and killing off what was once the retail Mecca of St Kilda… Now a no go zone for residents and visitors alike, while council sit on their hands afraid of making tough decisions...dreaming up new ways to hang on to their jobs. This St Kilda Triangle is, like our dear departed Edna Everage may have described, It’s just a bit of ”Colour and Movement” darlings...to distract eyes away from the gaping wounds that have been created by years of Council neglect and politically motivated mismanagement.Council needs to stop stumbling around like a minion plague of Cliff Youngs,’ in boots too big for their abilities and focus on the basic issues that local council should be getting right before they start acting like amateur music and event promoters. Fix Acland Street before funding another white elephant Council pipe dream that we residents shouldn’t be funding. As residents we need to take a stand and stop voting for political parties in our upcoming Council Elections or we will continue to get the same rubbish treatment from our council. We need to vote for independent councillors that understand the real concerns of residents so that locals can take back control of our tainted council. We don’t need yet another money pit taking funds and focus from Council core services. Time for Council to get back to basics and focus on getting these right first, before tripping over yet another passion project that's doomed for disaster.
