It’s something that will surely be on his and his family's minds for quite some time and affect them and their peaceful existence in what should be a friendly safe neighbourhood such as ours. The only good news to come out of this episode is that with the assistance of watchful neighbours and their CCTV cameras, the culprits were identified and apprehended. Violent crimes of this sort should hold dire consequences for these low life but our society has grown soft and focuses more on rehabilitating the perps than taking care of the victims. Our soft WOKE world really needs to take a look at where they are steering our society as we seem to be living in a crime spiral that is getting worse day by day with murders, home invasions, and knife and gun violence perpetually in the headlines. Even on our own retail streets we see and smell the festering. Our stretched police force spends much of their energies and resources in capturing the criminals only to have our 'out of touch' legal systems let them off to re commit time and time again. No wonder they are leaving the force in droves. The frustration of apprehending the same criminal time and time again only to have the courts set them free must be soul destroying. Commit a murder these days and you don't get a lengthy sentence but more likely a short holiday - all expenses paid. No pain, no suffering - that's for the victims to deal with. I've been reading a lot of 16th century history of late and the punishment in England during these times were horrendous. While I'm not suggesting drawn and quartering or burning at the stake, I think our society needs to harden up and focus on an eye for an eye as a form of punishment instead of a nice warm bed and 3 square meals. I'm really pleased the police have identified the culprits that were involved in the Canterbury Road shooting, “ well done”, and I hope that the punishment will befit the crime and that the victims will be fairly compensated. Fingers Crossed?
