Rhonda and Christina are endorsed by the Residents of Port Phillip (ROPP) and are committed to representing residents and are not beholden to political party policies and agendas. Prior to the 2020 election Greens and Labor party Councillors dominated Council decisions with party political agendas. We say let local council be politics neutral and independent from State and National based politics. Our agenda is to support local candidates who have the interests of ratepayers and residents of Port Phillip uppermost and foremost. We would like our beautiful and unique environment to flourish at every level both for residents and visitors and be the jewel in the crown of all Victorian Councils. We believe that the greater good of our community is better served by independent candidates who are in touch with the people within their wards and understand their unique differences and needs. We believe that council has not had community focussed leadership from the politically aligned councillors which has seen a disproportionate ballooning in council staff numbers, outsourcing to consultants, inefficiencies, and a general culture to build a larger council rather than efficiencies for ratepayers and residents. We believe that Council has a fiduciary responsibility to ensure ratepayers and residents get the best value for money and that there should be a more honest and transparent accountability of how and where the money is being spent. Straight answers. Not the rubbery figures and weasel words.
