The land is located adjacent to the North Port Cricket Ground at the junction of Williamstown Road and Ingles Street and has previously been identified as new public open space in the Fishermans Bend masterplan. City of Port Phillip are proposing to include a 50-60m radius sub-district size oval to be constructed between North Port Oval and Bunnings. The proposed new oval will contain turf cricket wickets and the Port Melbourne Cricket Club will remain at North Port Oval in the existing facilities with a new playing oval. The proposal will see the removal of existing turf cricket pitches from North Port Oval and the Port Melbourne Football Club will get all year-round access to the North Port Oval and AFLW games can be played at North Port Oval from September to December.
