Acland Court Shopping Centre in St Kilda has a rich history. The Centre, including the adjacent former Coles Variety Store, now Priceline Pharmacy, and local retail shops was built in 1937 and designed by noted architect Harry Norris, who was known for designing many Coles stores. The centre is currently being refurbished, redecorated and re-tenanted, to transform it into a “fresh food market” that will provide an attractive tenancy mix for local customers with a one-stop-shop location to obtain their daily food and beverage products. The centre has returned to its roots and harnessed the vibrancy and design quality of its original glory days in St Kilda’s bohemian precinct.

Our community have been extremely proactive in trying to address the anti-social issues unfortunately that has recently been present in Acland Plaza – the Barkly Street end of Acland Street. We asked the Council for help, and they listened. The local law team has been able to make a great positive impact on the situation and improve the environment for everyone. It’s good to know that families, locals, and visitors are returning to Acland Street again. A shout out of special appreciation to the local law team officers. They deserve a medal!
