The average age of the audience would have been around the 70’s mark making my partner and myself one of the younger ones. The pharmaceutical costs of keeping the 2,500 people functioning would have been enough to run big Pharma for a few days. And the theatre cafeteria would have struggled for patrons as many of these demographics bought their own DIY sandwiches, food, and drinks.Russell Morris and his own ageing crew seemed chuffed at the response of the sellout crowd and at 74, I’m sure Russell would have thought he was still very much loved. An amazing feat to still be going strong after so many decades. The songs with the orchestral backing were at times quite heavenly kicking off with an orchestral mash up of the Real Thing to herald Russell to stage. Absolutely fantastic show which will run at the opera house for another one-off outing. One interesting thing we learned was that the person that kicked off the thought of doing these shows was our own Clive Palmer who volunteered to underwrite the show should it not take off. It not only took off it soared.
