The kitchen caddies have been so popular that council almost ran out. Caddies can be collected from St Kilda Town Hall or any of our five library branches: Albert Park, Emerald Hill, Middle Park, Port Melbourne, and St Kilda.Since the introduction of FOGO bins for houses and townhouses we have seen a great improvement in diversion from our landfill from 31.8% to 39.5%. Well done to everyone for reducing our landfill and improving our sustainability. Many people who live in apartments have been asking me when they are getting a FOGO bin. Good news is that apartments will start receiving their bins in July 2023. For those that don’t have access to either, there will be communal FOGO locations across the Municipality which will commence in April 2023. Communal Glass hubs will commence in April 2023.You may remember that the introduction of the weekly FOGO collection meant that the general waste weekly collection was to change to fortnightly. The council has decided to delay that change until January and February 2024. So please make sure you continue to put all garden and food organics to the green FOGO bin so when the general waste changes to fortnightly, you will have plenty of room in your general waste bin.The waste charge for all residents for next financial year is proposed to increase by $22 to $198.20. The cost of the kerbside FOGO bin charge is proposed to reduce by $22 to $66 for the next financial year. Multi units (apartments) will have no collection charge. Please provide your feedback on FOGO and the draft budget on the link below and you have until May 18th, 2023.
