Cr Heather Cunsolo was elected Mayor on 9 November 2022. Cr Andrew Bond who celebrated ten years on the Council was as elected Deputy Mayor. Cr Cunsolo was elected seven votes to two over former Deputy Mayor Tim Baxter, who nominated himself for the mayoralty received a vote from fellow Greens Cr Katherine Copsey along with his own.
Former Mayor Marcus Pearl did not recontest for the role after one year during which, he successfully negotiated co-funding agreement that commits the Victorian Government to contribute up to $12.6 million plus $18 million from the City of Port Phillip to ensure the operation of six Port Phillip childcare centres requiring significant renovation or replacement will be made fit-for-purpose.
