Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) English French German Greek Hindi Indonesian Italian Japanese Korean Malay Spanish Vietnamese Print Illegal Rubbish Dumping in Our Streets Everything but the kitchen sink ended up on a Port Melbourne street in a shocking illegal dumping act last month.Council are appealing for information to assist our investigation into the illegal dumping of an entire demolished house.After receiving a tip-off Council Officers found the dismantled house and other building materials dumped at the end of Graham Street, with Port Phillip ratepayers ultimately paying the price to clear the area.Dumping rubbish is illegal and punishable under our Local Laws.Additional signage is now in place warning about the consequences of dumping rubbish, which carries a fine from $660 up to $9,900.Council Waste Management team actions more than 5,900 reports of dumped rubbish every year, from discarded furniture to mattresses and fridges, and collects about 50 tonnes of illegally dumped waste every month.
